Chicago radio host Dan Bernstein is not happy with Cubs third baseman Matt Shaw for his support of Turning Point USA.

Earlier this year, Shaw was excused from traveling with the Cubs to attend Charlie Kirk’s funeral.

“I was very thankful for how the team responded,” Shaw said. “Allowing me to do that was really special of them. [President of baseball operations Jed Hoyer and manager Craig Counsell] and all the veteran players that I talked to and, really, the whole team, having their support was really important to me.”

“My connection with Charlie (Kirk) was through our faith,” Shaw said. “That’s something that drives me every day. It’s the reason why I’m able to do what I do every day, and it’s something I’m extremely thankful for. I know without my faith and without the many blessings I’ve been given in my life, that I wouldn’t be here able to talk to you guys, able to help this team eventually go and win championships.”

This week, Shaw was named as a featured guest speaker on Kirk’s Turning Point USA rally.

On his radio show, Bernstein criticized Shaw for attending the TPUSA event by calling it a “Nazi-adjacent rally.”

“Cubs third baseman Matt Shaw is here right in between Danica Patrick and Roger Stone as a speaker, the Turning Point USA America First 2025 Nazi-adjacent rally. I saw Russell Brandt and Rob Schneider also. Yep, they’re on the list too. There’s a big poster putting everybody out there Matt Shaw, Cubs third baseman. Okay. All right. And we all make choices and I assume this is with the Cubs blessing?”
