LPGA golfer Chien Peiyun sunk an incredible hole in one at the Evian Championship on Sunday. That ace came on the 16th hole at the Evian Resort Golf Club in France.
The shot was one of the longest you’ll ever witness, not in terms of yardage but in duration.
Peiyun teed off on the par-three No. 16 as she wrapped up her fourth and final round of the weekend. What happened next stunned everyone in attendance.
She found the green with that tee shot, and it appeared she’d soon be lining up for a long putt to follow. That changed when her ball caught the front end of a slope that would soon carry it to its intended destination.
The crowd seemed to will the shot into the cup, with cheers growing more loudly as the ball began to pick up steam. It certainly took a while to get there, though.
From the time she teed off to the time in dropped in the hold, more than 35 seconds transpired.
Wait for it…

Just when it looked like it was coming to a stop, it found the slightest bit of momentum. The ball had a mind of its own!
As it turns out, that shot would be an important one for the final standings.
Chien Peiyun finished in a tie for 7th place.
She shot -10 on the weekend, which was capped by a -5 on Sunday. The ace certainly played its part in that last round.
Peiyun finished tied with two other golfers, and one shot ahead of another pair of competitors at -9. Her seventh-placed spot was good to earn a $206,667 payout. Those two players behind her were paid out $160,661.
The ace helped her bank an extra $50,000 give or take a few bucks. Yet another reason to celebrate the lengthy hole in one!
