On Monday, during his appearance on Fox Sports 1’s Speak For Yourself, former All-Pro quarterback Michael Vick weighed in with some advice for the still unsigned Colin Kaepernick. It did not go over very well. Let’s see if you can figure out why. Here’s the key portion of what Vick had to say…
“First thing we’ve got to get Colin to do is cut his hair. Listen, I’m not up here to try to be politically correct. Even if he puts cornrows in there, I don’t think he should represent himself in that way in terms of just the hairstyle. Just go clean-cut. You know, why not? You’re already dealing with a lot of controversy surrounding this issue. The most important thing that he needs to do is just try to be presentable.”
Yeah… I’m pretty sure cutting his hair isn’t going to be the key to Kaep getting a new contract from an NFL team.

Then on Tuesday, Kaepernick dropped a very subtle response to Vick’s comments on his social media channels…
Vick later tried to clarify his comments, saying that Kaepernick’s hair “has nothing to do with him not being on an NFL roster” and that what he said was not in malice.
Naturally, since opinions are like assholes, everybody has one, numerous folks have since voiced their opinions on both Vick and Kaepernick.
One of them was journalist/TV talking head Jason Whitlock who defended Vick’s remarks…

Another was NFL vet Chris Long, never one to shy away from expressing his feelings (here and here), who admitted that Vick’s remarks only served to confuse him…

I believe that, unlike Long, Kaepernick isn’t one of the 32 best quarterbacks in the league, and even if he is he doesn’t fit into all 32 teams’ systems, so if he is just going to be a backup that is the reason no one has signed him. No one wants their backup quarterback to be the focus of attention all year. They just want him to do his job, AKA the best job in the world, and hold a clipboard. But hey, that’s just my opinion, and I already told you about those.
