Chris Paul, a 12-time NBA All-Star and future Hall of Famer, signed a one-year contract with one of the NBA’s powerhouse franchises, the San Antonio Spurs, earlier this week.

With 20-year-old generational prospect Victor Wembanyama entering his second season in the NBA, the Spurs will surely be hoping that the team can make the leap into the playoffs, having finished 14th in the Western Conference last season.

And having a veteran presence like Paul on the squad could be key in the squad making that jump from bottom-of-the-league to playoff contention.

Despite Paul’s status as an NBA legend and his potential impact on the team, it appeared like the Spurs social media team couldn’t be all that bothered to make an announcement graphic worthy of his status.

“This is what happens when you ask someone to do work during their PTO,” said one viral response to the photo.

“The design team said OOO (out of office),” read another.

“The high school yearbook committee did a good job,” one basketball fan joked.

Paul’s upcoming season will be his 20th in the NBA, and the Spurs will be the 7th team he’s played for following the New Orleans Hornets (now the Pelicans), Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix Suns, and Golden State Warriors.

The 2023-24 season with the Warriors was the first time in his career that he came off the bench, as he appeared in 58 games with the Warriors but started in just 18 of them. As a result, Paul put up some of the lowest numbers of his career, averaging 9.2 points, 6.8 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game.

In addition to signing Paul, the Spurs drafted guard Stephon Castle out of the University of Connecticut with the 4th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. This summer, franchise star Victor Wembanyama will play for France at the Olympics.
