CJ Bailey is set to return as the incumbent starting quarterback for North Carolina State during the upcoming college football season. The rising sophomore has gained a lot of weight since his arrival.
That is a good thing!!
Bailey first got to campus in January of 2024. He has since added an astonish amount of muscle to his frame over the last 17, almost 18 months.
The foundation was built as a freshman.
The Florida-native ranked as the No. 24 player at his position in the college football recruiting Class of 2024 and a top-500 player overall. Bailey ultimately chose the Wolfpack over eight other offers from Indiana, FAU, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Miami, Toledo and Texas A&M.
His decision proved to be the right one because he won the starting job right away. He completed 65% of his passes for 2,413 yards and 17 touchdowns with 10 interceptions, and also ran for 279 yards and five touchdowns on 99 carries.
However, N.C. State finished with a losing record at 6-7. The hope is that this year will be better.
CJ Bailey got jacked!
CJ Bailey showed up as a true freshman at 6-foot-6, 170 pounds. He was able to add approximately 30 pounds in his first 18 months. The last seven have been just as productive, if not even more so.
According to Noah Fleischman, Bailey added an additional 15 pounds during the offseason and lost some body fat. And that doesn’t include the additional inch!
His updated measurements make him one of the biggest quarterbacks in college football at 6-foot-7, 215 pounds. He is up approximately 45 pounds in total since his first day on campus in Raleigh.
That is a huge number!
By the numbers, we’re talking about 2/3 pounds of muscle gained per month. I cannot say I have ever seen this kind of jump from a college football player in such a short amount of time.
