Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud had a sensational rookie season that will go down in the history books. The Ohio State alum looks like a future face of the league.
For his sake, it’s a good thing that the NFL dream looks like it’s going to work out. He would be a truly terrible NBA analyst, if that is his fallback.
CJ Stroud was at the NBA All-Star Game two weeks ago in Indianapolis, Indiana, and was asked by a reporter there to name his all-time NBA starting five. It’s not a good list, to say the least.

To recap:
PG: Steph Curry
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Kevin Durant
PF: Dirk Nowitzki
C: Shaquille O’Neal.
There’s no way that he thinks that’s the all-time greatest starting five in NBA history. Shaq at center? Over Kareem, Wilt, Bill Russell? No way. Shaq is much closer to the fifth-best center in the history of the game than he is the best.
Plus, no Michael Jordan OR LeBron James? I get people having a personal preference between the two and leaving one of them out for the sake of the discourse. But, to leave both out is clearly nuts.
Stroud is a Southern California native, and it makes sense that he has Kobe Bryant in there. But, Kobe isn’t better than Michael Jordan. He’s just not. I’m sure the Kobe stans will come for me on that one, but that’s ok.
Actually, the best pick may be Dirk Nowitzki. His ability to space the floor is such a good chess piece. That being said, the best power forward of all-time is Tim Duncan.
Bottom line, as long as CJ Stroud continues being one of the best quarterbacks in football, he won’t have to rely on terrible takes like this to earn him money.
