Cleveland Browns running back D’Onta Foreman had to be helicoptered to a hospital on Thursday after suffering a neck injury in practice.

The Browns said in a statement that Foreman suffered a blow to the head that ultimately led to him having neck pain.

“During practice today, Browns running back D’Onta Foreman suffered a direct blow to the head that resulted in neck pain. The Browns athletic training staff employed their standard emergency action procedures to immobilize Foreman. He was taken to an ambulance is being transported via helicopter to a Medical Center in Roanoke, Va. to undergo further medical evaluation. Foreman had movement in all his extremities. Updates will be provided as more information is received.”

Foreman is a six-year NFL veteran.

The Houston Texans selected him with the 89th overall pick in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. After two seasons in Houston, he made stops in Tennessee, Carolina and Chicago.

Foreman rushed for a career-high 914 yards and five touchdowns with the Panthers in 2022.

D’Onta Foreman Has Dreams Of Winning Super Bowl With Browns

Cleveland signed Foreman to a one-year deal in free agency in March.

“Just the physicality and everything that they brought when we played against those guys last year, I just knew I’d fit in well,” Foreman told the Akron Beacon Journal in June when asked why he signed in Cleveland. “We couldn’t even run the ball,” Foreman said. “We couldn’t get a yard on those guys. It was crazy.”

He came into the year with his sights set on a Super Bowl.

“I’m at the back end of my career, so I just feel like winning the Super Bowl is everything on my mind right now,” Foreman said. “Anything I could do to help us win a Super Bowl and get to that point is what I’m trying to do.
“I really feel like we have a true contending team, a team that we really can get over the hump and go win a Super Bowl. Everybody’s hungry, and it’s not like that in every organization. I’ll say that.”
Hopefully he makes a full, speedy recovery and is able to help the Browns work toward that goal.
