This video from social media personality ‘Club Pro Guy‘ who recently returned to X (formerly Twitter) could have single-handedly changed the course of history had 2023 Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson not made the decision to withhold it from the squad. But in honor of ‘Club Pro Guy’ returning to Twitter the video has finally been released.
Skratch, ‘the intersection of golf and culture,’ got their hands on the never-before-seen video that was made before the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome, the same Ryder Cup where Team USA got slaughtered 16 1/2 to 11 1/2 despite coming in as the heavy favorites.
According to golf insider/author Alan Shipnuck, ’23 Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson “got cold feet” after seeing the video below and made the decision to not show it to his squad on the even of competition. Shipnuck shared on X that he spoke with Zach Johnson who said “it was hilarious as all things are w/ Club Pro Guy but ultimately we decided against it. I thought there was going to be more from Miguel the Greenskeeper or some insight from Hank Jones regarding the Marco Simone design…”
Zach Johnson continued, saying “But instead it was a lot of Club Pro Guy’s outrageous and non-nonsensical swing thoughts that were probably not in the best interest of the team 12 hours prior to teeing off.” But now we can all see the video in its full glory where he basically goes through and roasts every member of the squad:

Club Pro Guy, a popular account in the golf entertainment community on social media, made his triumphant return to X on Monday with this video of his own:

The same aforementioned Alan Shipnuck spoke to Club Pro Guy (who many believe is Rich Beem) about his return to social media after a hiatus. CPG said “I couldn’t stay away. Golf is in my blood. Plus I’m dead broke.”
Evidently, a huge part of why CPG left Twitter/social media on September 4th of last year was something we can all relate to: burnout. The slog of creating daily content got to him and he needed a break but Rory won a green jacket and Club Pro Guy is back so all is right in the golf world for now.
Currently, I’m trying to get to the Ryder Cup at Beth Page Black but am trying to avoid the $1400 secondary market prices. I am hopeful that this time around Club Pro Guy will roast Team USA on the eve of competition and captain Keegan Bradley will have the spine to show it to the squad.
