Many have a romanticized view of the Olympic Village at a Summer Olympics, as getting to spend nearly three weeks with the world’s greatest athletes in an iconic city with great weather seems awesome. But, life in the village isn’t always as glamorous as you’d like to think, and Coco Gauff and her tennis teammates have proved just that.

After starting out sleeping on the cardboard beds in the Olympic Village in Paris, France, Coco revealed that all of her Team USA Women’s Tennis teammates had left the Olympic Village for the greener pastures of a local hotel.

Things are tight in the Olympic Village, with small living quarters and as many as five people sharing one bathroom. While that may be fine for college students, WTA tennis players are used to great accommodations as they travel around the world trying to earn a living playing tennis.

In the comments of that TikTok, a commenter said that they would move to a hotel. Coco Gauff responded by saying, “all the tennis girls moved to a hotel except me. so now just 5 girls two bathrooms.”

Coco Gauff has been very busy in Paris. She was named the flag-bearer by a vote of all of Team USA’s 600+ members, quite the honor at just 20 years of age.

She’s busy on the court, too. The world-number-two is playing in all three disciplines, as she’s also playing in the Women’s Doubles with usual teammate Jessica Pegula and is teaming up with Taylor Fritz in Mixed Doubles. While the Mixed Doubles tournament has not started yet, she’s won her first round matches in both singles and doubles.

This year’s Olympic Tennis Tournament is taking place at Roland Garros in Paris, home of the French Open.
