Austin Peay did not show class after its loss to North Alabama during Saturday’s college basketball game in Florence on Saturday night. The Governors refused to shake hands with the Lions, which caused an ugly scene to unfold.

Athletic director Dr. Josh Looney was caught up in the chaos and caught a stray from the visitors.

Peay, which is not very good this year, lost to one of the primary ASUN contenders by four points on the road and behaved as sore losers. There were a few questionable calls throughout the college basketball game but there was not one single incident to attribute for the frustration. Nevertheless, they were not happy.

The same cannot be said for North Alabama, which celebrated the overtime win with its student section.

The Governors went straight back into the locker room after the final buzzer. They did not stick around to shake hands with their opponents, as is customary. They did not even look over at the victors.

The lack of respect did not go over well with the Lions. It was sore loser behavior.

A few players from the home team went over to the visitors to rub the win in their face. Pushing and shoving ensued. Athletic director Dr. Josh Looney tried to deescalate the dust-up and caught a stray.

UNA head coach Tony Looney was none too pleased by the snub. He expressed his frustration with the lack of respect and threw serious shade at Austin Peay.

Here is what he had to say about the incident during his postgame press conference:

The Lions are surging. The Govs are heading in the exact opposite direction. North Alabama moved to 14-7 on the season with the win and will likely battle Lipscomb for an NCAA Tournament bid. Austin Peay dropped to 8-13.
