College basketball players are only allowed five personal fouls before they are forced to exit the game. They “foul out” at five, one less than the NBA.

And yet, in a rare occurrence on Tuesday night, Bryant guard Rafael Pinzon was called for six!

Here is how it went down:

  1. 16:10 — First Half: Shooting foul
  2. 14:01 — First Half: Shooting foul
  3. 17:15 — Second Half: Shooting foul
  4. 8:46 — Second Half: Shooting foul
  5. 1:08 — Second Half: Personal foul

With five fouls, Pinzon was forced to exit the game. As he did, an administrative technical foul was assessed on the Bulldogs. Pinzon was responsible, so despite having already fouled out with five fouls, he was hit with a sixth foul!

The box score was ultimately amended after the game. Pinzon had his technical foul changed to a team tech, which bumped him back down to just five.

Even though the sixth foul did not stick for the long-haul, the Cincinnati fans who stuck around to watch their team pull away down the stretch were lucky enough to witness history! College basketball players are only allowed five fouls. Pinzon managed to pull off a sixth.

To make his night even worse, he recorded just three points on eight shots. Rafael Pinzon made one of two three-point shot attempts and missed six-straight two-pointers.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Bryant might be the most undisciplined team in the country. Pinzon was not the only player to foul out in the game! The Bulldogs also had two players with four fouls and one with three.

And then there was the final score. Bryant did not score in the final four minutes and 46 seconds of play and went on to lose by 32. Gross.

Tuesday’s game was one to forget and Phil Martelli’s team fell to 6-7.
