‘College Football 25’ Early Access Release Derailed After EA Servers Crash And People Weren’t Happy

College Football 25 doesn’t officially come out until July 19th, but fans who shelled out an extra $30 for a premium edition that offered three days of Early Access got the chance to start playing on Monday afternoon. Unfortunately, EA’s servers apparently weren’t prepared for what was in store.

The release of College Football 25 marks the end of an 11-year drought that began when EA Sports opted to discontinue the NCAA Football franchise in the wake of the O’Bannon v. NCAA Supreme Court ruling, and it’s hard to think of any sports video game that’s come close to generating the amount of hype the first installment in the resurrected series has managed to drum up.

The folks at EA had plenty of time to prepare for the release of a game that was initially supposed to be released in the summer of 2023 before being delayed, and you have to imagine the powers that be knew their servers were going to be facing a pretty massive deluge of users when the Early Access window for College Football 25 officially opened up at 4 P.M. ET on Monday.

Unfortunately, people who wasted no time booting up the game were greeted with error messages concerning the EA servers that were unable to accommodate the strain that was placed on them due to the flood of new activity.

Those are just some of the many screenshots that were shared by people who understandably felt the urge to hop online and complain about the technical issues that exacerbated an already excruciating wait.

There were still plenty of people reporting server issues as of this writing, and while it’s safe to assume EA will be able to address the matter in the somewhat immediate future, it’s hard not to wonder if a similar issue is going to rear its ugly head when College Football 25 becomes available to every single person who purchased it on Friday.
