He had to know this was coming…

Superstar rapper Drake is being trolled to no end by college marching bands ahead of the 2024 college football season as they learn various arrangements and routines to Kendrick Lamar‘s hit diss track, “Not Like Us.”

Specifically, HBCU bands across the Southeast have taken the song to the next level.

First it was Jackson State’s legendary Sonic Boom of the South who took on the task. But more specifically, it was group of high schooler’s attending JSU’s “Baby Boom” camp who played an arrangement of the song.

But they weren’t alone.

Florida A&M’s legendary Marching 100 also learned the song and added a dance routine to it as well.

So, why is this so significant?

Well, for one, it’s just unendingly funny to troll Drake, who is perhaps the world’s corniest rapper. But it’s also important to know that it’s HBCU bands who are trolling him.

The whole beef between Drake and Kendrick centers around the fact that Kendrick views Drake as a culture vulture.

This is made abundantly clear by a line in “Not Like Us” that goes “You run to Atlanta when you need a few dollars
No, you not a colleague, you a f—in’ colonizer.”

HBCU bands, meanwhile, are the standard for college marching bands. And there’s perhaps no better example of southern Black culture. So for them to rock with Kendrick the way they are shows just how they feel about Drake.

Drake might have to watch Curling until the next year,” one fan tweeted about the band performances.

Another space Drake will find no peace in is college football,” said another.

Drake already had a no-good, very bad summer. Now it appears that his Fall isn’t going to get much better if HBCU bands have anything to say about it.
