Sacha Boisvert and Connor Eddy will receive an automatic one-game suspension after they dropped the gloves during the college hockey game between UMass Lowell and Boston University. It was an epic heavyweight fight between two players who had just left the penalty box.
They were out for blood!
Although it is uncommon for a fight to break out in college hockey, the occasional donnybrook will occur. The heavyweight tilt in Massachussetts on Friday was especially exciting because one of the involved athletes has a background in boxing.
Who is Sacha Boisvert?
Before we go any further, we must first discuss Connor Eddy and Sacha Boisvert. They are Canadians.
Eddy hails from Victoria, British Columbia. The 6-foot-0, 217-pound 23-year-old senior plays forward at UMass Lowell. He started his college hockey career at Northern Michigan in 2022 after three seasons with the Victoria Grizzlies of the BCHL. He later transferred in 2024.
Boisvert hails from Trois-Rivieres, Parti Québécois. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound 19-year-old sophomore plays forward at Boston University. He stated his college hockey career at North Dakota after a two-year stint with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL and was named as the NCHC Rookie of the Year. He transferred east to Beantown during the offseason.
Although Eddy is a good player in his own right, Boisvert is one of the best players in the country world. The Chicago Blackhawks selected him with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
His background makes him even more unique. Bosivert’s father owns a taekwondo and boxing gym in his hometown so he quite literally grew up throwing punches.
How boxing helped turn Sacha Boisvert into a top #2024NHLDraft prospect.

It just so happened that Bosivert’s two most prominent hobbies involve fighting. He is prepared.
A fight broke out during the college hockey game between UMass Lowell and Boston.
Connor Eddy decided to challenge Sacha Boisvert on the ice at Agganis Arena on Friday night. They both went to the penalty box during the third period. They immediately dropped the gloves upon release.
Both guys landed a few good shots before the referees ultimately stepped in to break up the fight.

Boisvert skated away as though he had won, but I don’t know. Eddy held his own!

Regardless of who won or lost the fight, it was UMass Lowell that claimed victory in overtime by a final score of 4-3. Both teams will also be without their best wingers during their next contest. Eddy and Boisvert will serve a mandatory one-game suspension.
