The Colorado Buffaloes picked up a thrilling 38-31 Big 12 season-opening victory over Baylor on Saturday thanks, in large part, to heroics from superstar quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

Sanders completed a Hail Mary as time expired in regulation to send the game to overtime.

In overtime, the Buffs marched quickly down the field before a Micah Welch touchdown run from 1 yard out gave them the lead.

But Baylor had a chance to tie the game in the second half of the opening overtime segment. The Bears, too, marched right down to the goal line. But on first-and-goal from the 2-yard line, running back Dominic Richardson dove for the end zone but fumbled the ball right before he reached it.

The ball then went through the end zone, seemingly ending the game with a touchback. But referees weren’t sure if Richardson crossed the goal line before fumbling, so the game was in limbo.

However, before they could review the play, Colorado fans stormed the field.

The Colorado public address announcer then told fans that the game was not over and that referees were reviewing the play. After a couple of minutes, all of the fans retreated to the stands, only for the referees to announce that Richardson did fumble and the game was, in fact, over.

Thousands of Buffs fans then came pouring back onto the field, celebrating the most incredible and improbably win of the Deion Sanders Era so far.
