The Colorado football team upset Big 12 rival Iowa State over the weekend to land a huge conference win. The school was subsequently fined after fans stormed the field.
Deion Sanders was shocked to learn about the pricey punishment that the celebration landed. New video of fans’ bad behavior proved the decision right.
The Buffs were in need of a league win after dropping their first three Big 12 matchups. They’d get one in a big way against a ranked foe.
Colorado shut down Iowa State’s offense to beat the 22nd-ranked team in the nation. Fans left their seats to celebrate with the team after the fact.

Deion Sanders did not agree with the Colorado football fine.
“Is it a fine for rushing the field?” he asked after the game. “What is it?… How is it $50,000 for rushing the field? Who made that a rule? C’mon man. That ain’t right.”
The NCAA has cracked down on field storming in recent seasons to avoid negative player-fan interactions. New rules have been put in place to discourage the act. Fines are doled out to rulebreakers.
Colorado fans did not adhere to the new policies on Saturday. They did not allow Iowa State players an opportunity to safely leave the field. It resulted in another player-fan confrontation.

A Buffs fan was seen attempting to swipe the helmet of a Cyclone player. That player was Chase Sowell, a former Colorado receiver that transferred upon Sanders’ arrival.
Video of the duo fighting for the headgear have surfaced on social media.
Interestingly enough, it wasn’t the only potentially dangerous situation that resulted from the storming. Another fan got himself trapped under the goal posts as he made his way onto the field.

Player and fan safety are major concerns in field storming instances. Colorado football proved it on Saturday. The home team’s actions answered Deion Sanders’ questions about the $50,000 fine. It appears to have been more than warranted.
