Anthony Pinnace took a bold approach to his college football recruitment by calling out Colorado’s second just days after Shilo Sanders made a strong declaration about the position group. He wants Coach Prime to get in touch because the Buffaloes need his help.

It will be interesting to see if the strategy pays off!

Pinnace, a former unranked quarterback recruit out of Ann Arbor, Michigan, spent the first two years of his career at Independence Community College in Kansas. The Pirates are one of the better JUCO programs in the country and brought him on as a corner.

After taking a redshirt year in 2022, Anthony Pinnace burst onto the scene last fall with 31 tackles (23 solo), 10 pass breakups and three interceptions in 10 games. He earned First-Team JUCO All-American honors.

Pinnace initially committed to play for Washington State in December and was excited to “be a contributor to the team” when the Cougars started spring practice in March. Something happened between March and May because the former JUCO star was released from his National Letter of Intent and reopened his recruitment.

However, 6-foot-0, 170-pound defensive back has not found a new program.

The college football season starts in less than a month and Pinnace needs an opportunity to play. Colorado is apparently at the top of his list. He tried to get Deion Sanders’ attention with a shameless call out.

The timing of Pinnace’s brash approach to his recruitment is rather ironic.

Shilo Sanders praised Colorado’s secondary group just a few days prior. Sanders, Travis Hunter and Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig return to the defense. Oklahoma State’s D.J. McKinney, Liberty’s Preston Hodge, Auburn’s Colton Hood and Furman’s Ivan Yates landed in Boulder through the transfer portal.

Shilo is pumped.

All the new addition guys when we got back there into secondary — it’s gonna be a no fly zone. I heard they were talking crazy to some of the guys that we were the best thing during the nation. Y’all are just going to have to see.

Starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders agrees with his brother’s assessment.

The coverage has been way, way, way tighter than it was last year. Like, way tighter.

The Sanders family is very excited about the new-look defense. Especially the secondary.

Meanwhile, Anthony Pinnace is trying to get on the roster by putting them down.
