In the lead-up to the 2023 NFL Draft, there has been much speculation about the potential of various college quarterbacks who are expected to be among the top picks.

Two of the players who have been mentioned frequently in discussions about the draft are Will Levis of Kentucky and Anthony Richardson of Florida.

The Indianapolis Colts, currently picking 4th overall, reportedly have Will Levis ahead of Anthony Richardson in their quarterback rankings. ESPN’s Matt Miller said, citing sources close to the Colts’ organization.

With Bryce Young likely getting picked 1st overall by the Carolina Panthers and C.J. Stroud possibly off the board at picks 2 or 3, the Colts will likely have their choice of the 3rd best prospect in the Draft.

There is also speculation by Miller that the Colts will not trade up to secure a passer.

Despite this, Miller’s sources suggest that the Colts are prioritizing a Day 1 starter at quarterback and believe that Levis, a more experienced and ready-now prospect, is the better choice. The Colts’ current quarterback depth chart includes veteran Gardner Minshew, as well as career backups Nick Foles and Sam Ehlinger.

Meanwhile, Anthony Richardson is a raw but super athletic prospect out of Florida. He is known for his speed and elusiveness, as well as his ability to make big plays with his arm. However, he is still considered a work in progress and may require more development time before becoming a starting quarterback in the NFL.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Colts will stick with Levis or surprise everyone by selecting Richardson on draft day.

Regardless, the Colts will be looking for a quarterback who can step in and make an immediate impact. Sincd Andrew Luck’s sudden retirement in 2019, the team has been searching for a long-term solution at the position. The 2023 NFL Draft could be their chance to finally find their franchise quarterback.
