Football and movie fans are extremely familiar with the popular film The Longest Yard.
Former professional football quarterback Paul Crewe is sent to prison and is forced by the warden to assemble a team of inmates to play a football game against the guards. Except none of the inmates know what they’re doing and they’re an absolute disaster before coming together at the end to somehow win the game.
Well, “The Longest Yard” has nothing on Compton College.
Now, to clarify, Compton College is not made of inmates. In fact, it’s a number of upstanding young (and old!) men just out here trying to play some football. Unfortunately for the Coyotes, the football part isn’t going all that well.
After an 0-8 start to the 2025 season, Compton forfeited its last two games of the season against Victor Valley and Antelope Valley to finish at 0-10.
In the eight games they did play, opponents outscored the Coyotes 480-12. They scored one touchdown in each of their last two games and bravely went for two each time. As the score indicates, they were unsuccessful on both attempts.
The 0-10 season means that Compton now has a 35-game losing streak (including forfeits) that dates back to a 37-7 win over Los Angeles Pierce College on Oct 1, 2022.
But wait, there’s more!
Compton College JUCO football features: 45-year-old former Compton mayoral candidate WR Lamar Willis, his son Josiah Willis, and 50-year-old DE/LB Orson Villalobos

The Coyotes roster also features a father-son duo! 45-year-old former Compton mayoral candidate Lamar Willis plays wide receiver, while his son Josiah Willis plays defensive back. Meanwhile, 50-year-old Orson Villalobos also plays linebacker and defensive end for the Compton.
Genuinely, good for these guys for getting out there and competing. But man, things are hard out here for the Compton Coyotes.
