Connor Stalions is no longer on staff at the University of Michigan. He resigned from his post on Friday night and spoke out for the first time through a statement from his lawyer not long thereafter.

Meanwhile, old tweets from NFL players who formally played in Ann Arbor made his statement even more confusing. They cast doubt on his timeline of events and trace him back to 2015 and 2016.

Connor Stalions stepped down.

According to multiple reports, Stalions was unwilling to cooperate with the ongoing investigation into his alleged sign-stealing operation. The 28-year-old also took the fall on his way out.

His statement said that Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines coaching staff were unaware of his activities.

Only those involve with the program know if that is true or not. Either way, Stalions falling on the sword like the honorable Michigan Man that he is could go a long way in helping to minimize any potential punishment for the program.

Around the same time of the resignation, some suspicious tweets came to light. They appear to allude to the idea that players may have known what was going on. They also provide a date.

NFL players know Stalions.

Jourdan Lewis is currently in his sixth year with the Dallas Cowboys. The 28-year-old defensive back was drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of the University of Michigan.

Lewis was a two-time First-Team All-American with the Wolverines in 2015 and 2016. He was a freshman in Ann Arbor in 2013.

Stalions was officially hired by the Michigan football program in 2022 and was listed as a recruiting analyst. That timeline would mean that he and Lewis did not overlap.

And yet, Lewis appears to have tagged Stalions in a post on Twitter in 2015.

@CStalionsUofM you be everywhere bro

Hmm……

Stalions was at the Naval Academy at the time.

Harbaugh was in his first year as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines after four years with the 49ers.

Lewis went to Class Technical High School in Detroit. Stalions went to Lake Orion High School in Orion Township.

How did they know each other?!

The same questions apply to Seahawks nose tackle Bryan Mone. Also 28, he played five seasons at Michigan from 2014 through 2018.

Mone tweeted at Stalions on Jan. 7, 2016.

Chillin with the homie @CStalionsUofM been a cool min Mann .

— Bryan Mone on Twitter at the time

That also alludes to the idea that Stalions and Mone knew each other prior to that date. How?

Mone is from Salt Lake City. Stalions is not.

It’s all very confusing. However, it is hard to claim that Stalions did not interact with the Wolverines program prior to 2022, considering that two former players were aware of his existence. One of which even referred to him as a “homie.”
