Cormani McClain did not live up to expectations during his first two seasons of college football but Florida is excited about his potential in 2025. He spent the last few months in the weight room and looks like a completely different person.

The former five-star recruit is jacked!

McClain was ranked as the No. 1 defensive back in the college football recruiting Class of 2023 and was considered a lock to sign with Miami. However, he flipped his commitment to Colorado at the last second to play for Deion Sanders in Boulder. That did not last long. A tumultuous freshman season was marred by a lot of controversy related to his behavior so both parties ultimately agreed to part ways.

McClain hit the transfer portal and ended up at Florida as a walk-on. He recorded only five tackles and one interception (a pick-six) in two games as a sophomore. Now, with his junior year fast approaching, the 20-year-old earned his status as a scholarship player with a lot of hard work. It has really paid off.

The Gators listed him on the roster at 175 last season. That still might’ve been a little bit of a stretch but he was noticeably bigger than the year prior— especially in the arms.

It will be interesting to see where Cormani McClain tips the scale in 2025. His shoulders look like boulders after. You straight up would not recognize him just 24 months ago.

Florida has high expectations for this upcoming season after finding a groove late last year. Billy Napier’s defense will need to take the pressure off of D.J. Lagway and a newly-jacked Cormani McClain is slated to play a much bigger role as a junior than he did as a sophomore or at Colorado!

Will the added muscle prove to be the difference that finally gets him to reach his full potential?
