Cormani McClain’s Status With Florida In Limbo As Coach Shuts Down Rumor Before SEC Media Days

Cormani McClain‘s time with the Florida Gators could soon be up according to a new report that surfaced on Tuesday.

McClain, a five-star recruit in the class of 2024, transferred to Florida after spending one season with Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes.

But alleged bad habits have reportedly frustrated Gators players and coaches and he may well have taken things a step too far.

Polk Way, a content creator with strong ties to Polk Country in Florida, where McClain is from, reported that the star cornerback had been removed from the Gators’ roster.

Just received word that Cormani McClain has been removed from the University of Florida football team… WOW,” they tweeted.

But it didn’t take long for reports to surface contradicting that statement. And Florida defensive backs coach Will Harris seemed to shoot it down himself.

“University of Florida DB coach Will Harris tweets out “Not True!!!” Seemingly responding in a subtweet fashion to my post about Cormani no longer being apart of the team,” Polk Way responded. “My sources are internal, and I’m pretty confident in them, but with position coach saying this, I will take his word for it. OR Is this damage control to prevent the questions at SEC Media Day?”

Polk Way initially claims that the Gators were keeping the move under wraps.

Cormani McClain Not Making Good First Impressions With Florida

Florida insider Nick de la Torre previously reported that McClain had violated several team rules.

“I was told that Cormani McClain has been late to most of the requirements (meetings, lift, etc…),” de la Torre said on Gators Online. “The way that it’s handled is sort of like a strike system. Essentially, you get a warning, theb you have to do extra run/lift… which he’s started to show up late for as well. They started to make the defense and then the rest of the team do these extra lifts thinking that would get Cormani to show up on time and it hasn’t.”

Yikes.

McClain allegedly had similar issues at Colorado.

Sanders refused to play McClain early in the season due to his inconsistent work habits. Now it appears they’re popping up again, and it could mean McClain will yet again be looking to find a new home to continue his college football career.
