Many years, Dallas Cowboys tickets are among the most expensive tickets in the NFL. That’s especially true of their annual Thanksgiving Day game, where ticket prices usually soar.
That couldn’t be farther from the truth this year. While tickets to the other traditional Thanksgiving Day game in Detroit soar tickets to watch the Cowboys take on the Giants may cost less than your Thanksgiving Dinner today.
The Cowboys are 4-7, while the Giants are 2-9. Not only that, but the quarterback matchup of Cooper Rush and Drew Lock has absolutely nobody excited. So, to recap, it’s a meaningless game in a lost season for both teams that people have to miss Thanksgiving with their family for.
That’s reflected in the ticket price. As of Wednesday evening, the get-in price for the Giants-Cowboys game at AT&T Stadium was around $50, with rogue tickets showing up for half of that amount. That’s a huge bargain for any NFL game, let alone a Thanksgiving Day Cowboys game with Lainey Wilson performing at halftime. It just shows how bad things are for Jerry Jones, Mike McCarthy, and the Dallas Cowboys.
Meanwhile, if you want to go see the Detroit Lions, who possibly have their best team in franchise history, play the rival Chicago Bears, the get-in price is around $250, five times as much as in Dallas. That makes sense, as the Lions are so fun to watch and Detroit fans are embracing this sensational team.
Even the Packers-Dolphins game, which will be played in the snow and cold on Thursday night, is selling at higher prices than the Cowboys game is.
These are secondary market prices, so it’s not like Jerry Jones is losing money directly here. But, there’s no way he can be happy about the lack of. buzz aroud the team and the fact that AT&T Stadium has been overrun by visiting fans even more than usual this year. While I can’t see a ton of Giants fans making the trip to watch their sad excuse of an NFL team, that means there likely will be plenty of empty seats at Jerryworld today.
