Cross Canadian Ragweed made its long-awaited return to the stage at Boone Pickens Stadium on Thursday night after more than a decade apart. Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy announced their presence to a sold-out crowd at the first night of the Boys of Oklahoma concert in Stillwater.

The reception was so raucous you would’ve thought the Cowboys scored a game-winning touchdown against the Sooners in late November.

Despite its name, Cross Canadian Ragweed has nothing to do with Canada. The legendary country music group, which falls more into the category of Red Dirt, southern rock and/or alt country, is Oklahoma through and through. They were formed in Yukon and based out of Stillwater. Their name is a play on Cody Canada, Grady Cross, Randy Ragsdale and Matt Weidmann’s last names. Weidmann has since been replaced by Jeremy Plato.

The group was at the forefront of the rise of Red Dirt music in Oklahoma and Texas starting in 1994. It released five studio albums and three live albums until their sudden break-up in 2010.

Ragsdale needed to be home with his family and, more specifically, his autistic son. His three bandmates refused to go on without him. They amicably split almost 15 years ago. They returned on Thursday.

The Boys From Oklahoma is an experience!

Oklahoma State turned one of its practice fields into a fan fast. The Pokes were buzzing, literally.

Meanwhile, the football team wrapped up its spring practice right next door!

Boone Pickens Stadium transformed from a football stadium to a concert venue for the first time in school history.

The Boys From Oklahoma bill also features Jason Boland & The Stragglers, Tunpike Troubadours, Stoney LaRue and the Great Divide. All five bands are as Oklahoma as it gets. Tickets are completely sold out.

It was incredible scenes.

All four openers crushed.

Turnpike, which also released a new album at midnight, served as the primer.

Cross Canadian Ragweed went on at approximately 10:30 p.m. Gundy came out to introduce them — for the first time since 2010 — and sent the crowd into a frenzy.

Their walkout will send chills down your spine.

They even took a cheeky jab at their break-up with a very specific song from Taylor Swift. They are never getting back together. *wink wink*

Cross Canadian Ragweed played for more than two hours into the early hours of Friday morning. According to boots on the ground, again literally, they lived up to the hype! Dierks Bentley, Wade Bowen and the red Dirt Rangers were among those who made guest appearances.

Ragweed is officially back. Stillwater, Oklahoma is officially rocking!
