Dabo Swinney Claims He Won’t Read This Article About Clemson’s All-Time Bad Offensive Line Play

Dabo Swinney drew a lot of criticism after Clemson got destroyed by Georgia in Atlanta on Saturday. The Tigers looked pretty bad on both sides of the ball and began the season at 0-1 with a lot of questions about where to go from here.

Swinney offered a passionate response to all of the negative evaluations of his team at his press conference on Tuesday.

In doing so, the 54-year-old made it abundantly clear that he does not read any of the articles written about him or his team. Head coaches often read ramblings on the internet and I find it hard to believe that Dabo Swinney is the exception, but perhaps it is true.

Either way, his approach to the dialogue was incredibly off-putting. Swinney talked down to reporters, again, while trying to convince himself that everything is okay even though everything is not okay. It was yet another spastic and uncomfortable defense of his program after an ugly loss.

Pretty much everything went wrong for Clemson during the defeat. Quarterback Cade Klubnik threw for less than 150 yards with an interception. The Tigers ran for less than 50 yards… total.

Swinney knows that 3.5 yards per play and a third down efficiency of 30% won’t cut it. Local media is going to crush his offense for being completely stagnant and the defense for failing to get off of the field.

He isn’t going to hear the criticism— even though he needs to hear the criticims.

Something that isn’t getting enough attention is the offensive line play. Georgia’s defensive front (which is one of the best in the country) was living in the backfield all night.

There is one play in particular that stands out for all of the wrong reasons. Clemson’s entire offensive line looked incompetent. It legitimately might be the worst rep of all-time.

Dabo Swinney will hope to rebound from the 0-1 start against App State this weekend. In the meantime, there are all kinds of questions about his team. The head coach claims not to see them.
