Dabo Swinney Impressed 5-Star Signee By Tossing Up 22 Reps On The Bench In A Button-Down

Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney flexed on five-star signee TJ Moore during an in-home visit with an impressive showing on the bench press. The coach apparently tossed up 22 reps of 135 pounds – all while sporting a button-down oxford!

Now, it may not be the typical 225 pounds we see at the NFL Combine, but this is a 54-year-old man that’s not vying for a spot on a professional roster.

Instead, he’s just trying to impress a talented recruit.

TJ Moore was one of the top wide receiver prospects in the most recent recruiting class, and one that the Tigers were highly interested in.

The Tampa native is rated as a five-star prospect by 24/7 Sports, as well as the fourth-best pass catcher in the nation. A crown jewel in Clemson’s 16th-ranked class, he could see the field early and often given the Tigers’ recent struggles at the wideout position.

“A big-play wide receiver with exceptional hands that can stretch the field,” his recruiting bio reads. “Should be viewed as a potential WR1 at the Power Five level given body control, run-after-catch capability and elite hand-eye coordination.”

Moore picked Clemson over offers from Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and more. Much of that was due to his relationship with Dabo Swinney.

The signee recently posted about one particular in-home visit, reminiscing on his recruitment. He added a few photos with the staff accompanied by a video of his new head coach hopping on the bench.

Now, we know Swinney is in shape. We see it every time the Tigers play in Death Valley.

The man reaches max speed during “The Most Exciting 25 Seconds In College Football,” somehow keeping his feet while sprinting down that steep hill in Memorial Stadium.

But who knew he had a set of pythons, too?!

Swinney’s workout routine certainly paid off in TJ Moore’s recruitment as the receiver made his pledge to the program last June before signing in December.
