The Cowboys are relying on Dak Prescott to be healthy as they gear up for yet another season defined by high expectations, and the quarterback has made it clear the walking boot he was recently seen rocking isn’t a major cause for concern.

The Dallas Cowboys are nearing the 30th anniversary of their most recent Super Bowl win all the way back in 1996, and they’re obviously hoping Dak Prescott will play a prominent role in bringing that drought to an end as the 30-year-old QB enters the final year of the contract he signed in 2021.

Prescott has been no stranger to injury over the course of his career. He sat out for the majority of the 2020 campaign after succumbing to a broken ankle in Week 5 and missed five games in 2022 after breaking his thumb in the team’s season opener.

While he managed to start every single game last year, there have been some concerns about his status as the Cowboys prepare to gear up for 2024.

Earlier this week, a pro sports bettor said movement concerning Dallas’ win total could be linked to an unsubstantiated rumor that Prescott recently underwent an MRI for an unspecified injury, and while a source close to the Cowboys dismissed that claim, fans understandably had a hard time ignoring a picture of their star QB wearing a walking boot while preparing to board a boat in Cabo.

However, if Prescott is to be believed, there’s no major cause for concern, as The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reached out to him after the photo made the rounds online during a text message exchange where he said “I’m great” and noted he was simply wearing the boot as a precautionary measure because “the last time I went deep sea fishing my [ankle] swole up.”

As a result, it doesn’t sound like Cowboys fans need to panic—but if recent history is any indication, they’ll probably have plenty of excuses to do exactly that when the season gets underway.
