Dak Prescott Says Upcoming Eagles Game Is About ‘Making A Statement To Ourselves’

Ahead of their pivotal  — well, not so much in terms of the standings, but for their own confidence — matchup against the NFC-leading 13-1 Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is now seemingly trying to gas his team up through the media.

Speaking to the Dallas Cowboys’ official website, Prescott — who has the most interceptions in the league since his return from injury (and seven in his last four games) — said this weekend’s game is about “making a statement to ourselves.”

“If anything, it’s about making the statement to ourselves. As you look at the season, we’ve had some games where we played really well. And we’ve had some games where we bit ourselves in the foot . . . So, this is about putting our best foot forward.”

Given the injury status of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and MVP contender Jalen Hurts (he missed practice on Wednesday), Dak and the Cowboys are currently favored by five points against the potentially Gardner Minshew-lead Eagles heading into Saturday’s matchup.

The 10-4 Dallas Cowboys are currently the #5 seed in the NFC playoffs, meaning they’d head to Tampa Bay for a matchup with Tom Brady and the Bucs in the Wild Card round if the season were to end today.

With the Cowboys looking like they have the potential to both beat and lose to anybody in the league, that would obviously be a fascinating matchup as they’d be on the road and up against the postseason aura of Tom Brady.

To close out the season, the Dallas Cowboys’ final three games are against the Philadelphia Eagles on Christmas Eve, Tenessee Titans, and Washington Commanders.
