Dak Prescott Hints At Bad Blood With Jerry Jones In Latest Comments About Contract Extension

The clock may well be ticking on Dak Prescott‘s career with the Dallas Cowboys, especially if his latest comments about owner Jerry Jones are any indication.

Prescott enters the 2024 season in the final year of his contract. And despite a second-place finish in the NFL MVP voting a year ago, the Cowboys still haven’t given their star signal caller a new contract he feels is worthy of signing.

Prescott spoke to members of the media on Thursday, expressing his frustration with both the situation and Jones.

“Just how people feel,” Prescott said when asked what it says that he’s going to enter the season without a new deal.

On Wednesday, Jones spoke at length about Prescott and his view of the three-time Pro Bowler.

I quit a long time ago getting bent out of shape about having anybody under contract or not,” Jones said. “There are all kinds of things other than a contract that could change the outcome of him being under contract: injury, level of play. So you can’t just pick that and say that should give you a better feeling about our team or me a better feeling. The whole thing has a lot of moving parts. Now, I can live with that … because we play a game that it can change on the next play.”

Unsurprisingly, that did not sit well with Prescott.
“I stopped, honestly, listening to things (Jerry Jones) says to the media a long time ago,” Prescott said. “It doesn’t really hold weight with me.”
Just last week, Jones claimed that nobody could be a better general manager for the Dallas Cowboys than him. They Cowboys have not been to a Super Bowl in nearly 30 years. And now their star quarterback is angry with the franchise less than sixth months from hitting free agency.
Bold move, Jerry.
