Baltimore Ravens Linebacker Kyle Van Noy Grills NFL For Baffling Decision To Bail Out Dak Prescott

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Kyle Van Noy is just as confused as everybody else about a confusing call during the first half Sunday’s NFL game against the Dallas Cowboys. Don’t be surprised if the National Football league administers a fine for his criticism of the officials, even though it is completely warranted.

A play that probably should’ve been called as a safety was instead presented as a less-destructive penalty and gave the home team a break.

Baltimore was up 14-3 at the time. There was eight minutes and 34 second left in the second quarter. Dak Prescott took the snap at his own two-yard-line. He dropped back into the end zone.

With Prescott’s entire body completely on the wrong side of the goal line, defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike wrapped him up and brought him down.

Had the quarterback held onto the ball, it would’ve been called as a safety. The Ravens would’ve been awarded two points and possession.

However, Prescott flipped the ball to his right at the absolute last possible moment. Offensive lineman Tyron Smith actually caught the pass and scampered for no gain. No other Dallas receiver was in the area. Fullback Hunter Luepke was no less than six yards downfield when the “pass” was released.

The officials could’ve made two different penalty calls that would have resulted in a safety:

  1. Intentional grounding
  2. Ineligible receiver

Neither call was made. The play was instead ruled as “illegal touching of the forward pass by the offense” and the Cowboys were spared.

They got the ball back at the original line of scrimmage with fourth down. They punted.

Van Noy does not understand why Prescott was able to get away with the desperation toss and he is right to be confused.

Today I found out that if a QB is goin down for a safety you can just pass it to an O-lineman and you good?!?! What?!?! 🧐🤨
