The second game of the Missouri Valley Conference baseball tournament did not go well for Dallas Baptist. The Patriots got absolutely smacked, which led to a hilarious viral home run.
Dallas Baptist is historically one of the top mid-major programs in the nation, but struggled a little bit in 2022. As a result, the Patriots ended up as the three-seed and took on the two-seed Evansville in game two of the tournament on Friday evening.
They got things started with a run scored in the top of the first and it looked like the momentum was in their favor.

It was not. The momentum was very much in favor of the “home” team.
Evansville proceeded to score 21 runs in five innings and took a 21-1 lead to the top of the sixth. At that point, the game was all-but over.
However, DBU catcher Nate Rombach wasn’t going to stop doing everything in his power (pun intended) to bring his team back.
As the second batter in the sixth inning, he proceeded to his an absolute moonshot and cut the deficit to 19. It was so, so gone.
But because the home run was so irrelevant, Rombach’s reaction was completely subdued. He could not have seemed to care less, and neither did his team, which tried to rally up some half-hearted excitement but could not. Even the Evansville pitcher, who had a sizable lead in his favor, hardly even acknowledged the dinger.

Fortunately for DBU, the MVC tournament is double elimination so their season did not end on the least exciting home run of all-time.
