The Dallas Cowboys are trading for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens, according to reports. Pickens, 24 years old, had 59 catches for 900 yards and three touchdowns last season.

According to reports, the Dallas Cowboys are sending the Pittsburgh Steelers draft pick compensation in exchange for George Pickens. The Steelers likely saw Pickens as a tradable asset after acquiring wide receiver DK Metcalf in the offseason.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Cowboys sent a 2026 third-round pick to the Cowboys in exchange for Pickens. Additionally, the Cowboys will also send a 2027 fifth-round pick to the Steelers and get back a 2027 sixth-round pick.

Since being drafted out of the University of Georgia in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Pickens has had 174 catches for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns across three seasons. The best season of Pickens career so far came in 2023 when he had 63 catches for 1,140 yards and five touchdowns.

The mercurial yet talented  pass catcher — whose contract expires at the end of the season — will now slot in as Dallas’ #2 wide receiver behind CeeDee Lamb.

“Dallas and Pittsburgh are working to finalize a trade that will send wide receiver George Pickens to the Cowboys in exchange for draft pick compensation. The trade is expected to be finalized today,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Appearing in Get Up! on Wednesday morning, ESPN insiders Peter Scherger and Brooke Pryor suggested that Pickens was traded due to off-the-field concerns and a hesitancy from the Steelers to sign him to a contract extension. They also added that free agent QB Aaron Rodgers, rumored to be EVENTUALLY signing with the team, was likely aware that Pickens was being shopped.

Jerry Jones, however, is apparently unconcerned and has added Pickens to the Dallas locker room.
