Longtime UFC president Dana White was asked on the Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson podcast to name the best fighters in the history of the UFC and he didn’t include Conor McGregor.

Considering McGregor was the first UFC fighter to hold championships in two different weight classes simultaneously, this came as a surprise to many MMA fans.

McGregor also, at one point had headlined the five highest-selling UFC pay-per-view events of all time, which is another reason it was surprising that White left “The Champ Champ” off his list.

“So hard to do because when you look at the 23 years that I’ve been in it, there’s been so many great fighters, but you gotta start with Jon Jones,” White replied to the question of who he thinks are the top five UFC figthers of all time.

“You gotta have Ronda Rousey, know what I mean?” White continued. “You gotta have Amanda Nunes, greatest female fighter of all time. There’s just so many it’s hard to pick five.

“How do you not have Usman? Kamaru Usman has got to be in there. Yeah, it’s tough. Chuck Liddell. Chuck in his time, Royce [Gracie] in his era, in his time. Yeah, it’s hard to just pick five, you know, all time great fighters.

“If you look at the different generations of people who helped take the sport to another level … Matt Hughes would have to make the list. I mean, there’s so many people who have, it’s tough to pick.

“And then you look at all the different Brazilians that that came up. You know, the Pride era. I mean, you know, Pride Fighting out of Japan and it’s hard to just pick five.”

Frank Mir was also brought up. Dana White glossed right over that name, but of the seven fighters he did name, none of them were Conor McGregor (or Khabib Nurmagomedov or Georges St. Pierre, somewhat surprisingly, but not really).
