This weekend’s fight between Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker got fans talking about a potential trilogy fight for the UFC middleweight title. The fight was close enough that there were fans out there scoring it for Whittaker and the only other real option for a title fight right now is Jared Cannonier.
When Dana White was asked about this potential trilogy fight at the UFC 271 post-fight press conference, the conversation shifted to a recent trilogy fans had watched play out. The conversation became about Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno.

The Moreno-Figueiredo situation is truly unique in the UFC. It is very rare that the organization ever even feels the need for fighters to meet 3 times. It has never had fighters compete against each other 4 times in the organization.
However, there is every reason to believe that a 4th fight between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno is absolutely necessary. Their first 3 fights have failed to give us a clear idea of who is actually the better fighter between the two.
The first fight was scored a draw thanks to Figueiredo having a point deducted. The second fight was completely different, with Moreno dominating from the start and finishing Figgy in the 3rd round.
The 3rd fight was a very close decision win by Figueiredo that could have easily gone to Moreno. The outcome of that fight at UFC 270 has many fans hoping to see these two meet for a 4th time.
Luckily for Moreno, he doesn’t have much realistic competition for the title shot in the UFC’s flyweight division. Askar Askarov has won 3 in a row, but missed weight in his last fight and is scheduled to fight at the end of March. Alexandre Pantoja is 3-2 in his last 5 and has already lost to Figgy.
That should leave at least a chance that we see the UFC’s first ever quadrilogy. UFC fans also know, that if Dana White isn’t shutting the idea down, it’s something we could see coming in the near future.
