The Los Angeles Lakers took a 2-1 lead over the Memphis Grizzlies with a big win on Saturday night.
D’Angelo Russell played a crucial role in the victory after recording 17 points, seven assists, and four rebounds.
However, he caught some attention during his post-game presser. Not because he went on a rant or anything, but because an NBA rep absolutely denied him of promoting his beverage.
According to Arash Markazi, D’Angelo Russell attempted to promote his sports drink “Coco5.” But before the press conference could begin, an NBA rep refused to let him promote it.
After the Lakers game, D’Angelo Russell tried to promote his drink — Coco5 — but couldn’t because it’s not an NBA partner.
“You gon’ have to fine me”

The Lakers star tried his best anyway. And hey, maybe the league does decide to fine him over it. The NBA has yet to release a statement about D’Angelo Russell, but they could technically say something in due time.
Despite that, shoutout to Russell for trying to promote the beverage anyway. The guy even went out of his way to raise the bottle up before leaving as a last-ditch effort.
It’s kind of funny to watch that scene play out though. But it makes sense why the NBA doesn’t want D’Angelo Russell to promote his sports drink.
But hey, maybe one day the Lakers’ star can turn it into a partner with the league. Until then, the NBA likely isn’t going to allow him to promote it during post-game press conferences.
Perhaps Russell should consider making a commercial instead.
