It’s been close to a month since the Giants officially brought the Daniel Jones Era to an end after placing the QB on waivers. He may currently be a member of the Vikings, but that didn’t stop him from sending a Christmas gift to the linemen who were tasked with protecting him during his time in New York.
Daniel Jones had some massive cleats to fill when he replaced Eli Manning as the starting quarterback for the New York Giants, but he never really came close to living up to the hype that usually comes with being a QB selected with the sixth overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Jones posted a 12-25 record during his first three seasons under center before showing a fair amount of promise during the 2022 campaign where he threw for a career-high 3,205 yards while leading the Giants to the playoffs. He wasn’t a bonafide franchise QB by any means, but the Giants made it very clear they thought he was one when they subsequently gave him a four-year contract worth $160 million after the season wrapped up.
Plenty of people were baffled by that decision, and the skeptics turned out to be right thanks to what unfolded once he inked the deal. In 2023, the Giants went 1-5 in the six games Jones started during an injury-plagued season cut short by the ACL tear that ended it, and he was benched in favor of Tommy DeVito after New York got off to a 2-8 start this year.
The Giants ultimately agreed to cut Jones loose after he asked to be released, and he’s currently keeping busy as a member of the Vikings practice squad. He might be in Minnesota, but he still decided to show his appreciation for some of the guys back in New York during the holiday season.
Most NFL QBs hook up their offensive lineman with some pricy Christmas gifts as a show of appreciation, and according to ESPN‘s Jordan Raanan, the big boys Jones played with on the Giants all got a bottle of some very expensive tequila from their former teammate.
Daniel Jones with a class move. He may not be the Giants QB anymore but … he sent all the offensive linemen who were on the roster with him a limited edition bottle of Clase Azul.

A standard bottle of Clase Azul will normally set you back around $150, and while it’s not clear which limited-edition offering Jones opted to splurge for, the more exclusive ones can go for thousands and even tens of thousands of dollars depending on their rarity.
What a guy.
