Daniel Jones has a lot to prove in 2024. It is not a stretch to say that his performance with the New York Giants this fall will determine his future as a starting quarterback in the NFL.

If it goes well, great. If not, he’s going to be benched indefinitely.

The 27-year-old signal-caller received a four-year, $160 million contract extension from the Giants after a strong fourth year in the league in 2022. Jones completed 67.2% of his passes for 3,205 yards and 15 touchdowns with just five interceptions en route to nine wins and New York’s first playoff appearance since 2016, the second since winning the Super Bowl in 2011.

Unfortunately, he immediately struggled out of the gates after getting paid. Jones threw six early picks in the first six games of 2023 and the Giants went 1-5. A torn ACL ended his season early.

Patrick Peterson recently unloaded on Jones during an episode of the ‘All Things Covered‘ podcast. His scouting report was ruthless.

I had an opportunity to play against Daniel Jones a couple times — ain’t nothing impressive about him to a defense. He’s big and strong, but he hasn’t shown us arm talent, like, crazy arm talent […]

He’s shown an inability to read defenses quickly, to get the ball out quickly, and I think he has a problem dissecting the 11 guys on defense. His process is too slow to excel as a great NFL quarterback.

He has talent. He has all the measurables. It’s just not coming together on the football field.

Yikes! Jones obviously has a lot to prove as a sixth-year quarterback. New York chose not to draft a rookie to replace him in April. He’s getting torched by one of the best defensive backs to ever do it.

The expectation is to win — now.

Jones has been working with QB Country to get ready for the most important season of his life. Not only does he looked jacked, after having a lot of time to hit upper body, he is moving well.

All of the things that Peterson mentioned are clearly a big point of emphasis.

Before you jump down my throat—— I know, he’s throwing against air.

“WoRkOuTs DoNt MeAn AnYtHiNg!” “wHeRe’S tHe DeFeNsE?”

Cool. Fine. That is true. But more than one thing can be true.

Daniel Jones looks ready!
