Daniel Negreanu is currently running scalding hot in Event #58: $50,000 Poker Players Championship at the 2024 World Series of Poker where he sits second in chips (7,635,000) behind Chris Brewer going into Day 5 of the tournament which many believe is the most prestigious WSOP event outside of the Main Event.

What sets the $50K Poker Players Championship (PPC) apart from other tournaments is that it’s a true test of skill across all games and not just Hold’em, Omaha, or Stud, etc. The $50K PPC tests players at (1) No Limit Hold’em, (2) Seven Card Stud, (3) Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better, (4) Razz, (5) Pot-Limit Omaha, (6) Limit Hold’em, (7) No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw, (8) Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better, and (9) 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw.

What makes is such an incredible event is how the top players can absolutely thrive at their top game but then they get fed to the wolves during hands where they’re not as strong at the various games. In this hand, Daniel Negreanu is facing Bryce Yockey in Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or Better and Daniel looked pretty dead after the flop when Yockey hit 2 pair. Negreanu looked even worse on the turn when Yockey hit a full house and Daniel had no shot at scooping the Lo and only a 5% chance (1 card) at winning the Hi.

Just an absolutely wild heater at the perfect time. In his daily vlog, Daniel shared some clips of how quickly things turned around for him. At one point he was all-in against Chris Brewer in a hand with a 940K pot, playing Stud Hi/Lo 8 or Better, and that’s when things really began to turn around for the Kid Poker:

PokerGo, who has been streaming the $50K PPC action and will stream the 5-man final table later today, put together this short clip showing the absolute HEATER that Daniel Negreanu went on to climb up to 2nd in chips:

Outside of the WSOP Main Event, this is the event that every professional poker player wants to win at some point because it shows they are the most well-rounded poker player at that time.

Chris Brewer is the favorite as he goes into the final day with a commanding chip lead of 10,465,000. First place will pay out $1,178,703 and $768,467 goes to second. All five players who return for action on Thursday are guaranteed at least $265K.
