Flag football quarterback Darrell Doucette made headlines last week for his take on NFL players competing in the 2028 Summer Olympics. He doubled down on Wednesday.

Doucette said he didn’t believe NFL stars should be entitled to an Olympic roster spot based on status alone. He believes they need to earn it!

That response came shortly after the league dropped a video of Jalen Hurts heaving a football into the Coliseum, signaling that it wants to have representation in the LA Games.

Some viewed the clip as the NFL’s plan to build a flag football super team. Doucette saw it as a threat to his livelihood.

“I think it’s disrespectful that they just automatically assume that they’re able to just join the Olympic team because of the person that they are – they didn’t help grow this game to get to the Olympics. Give the guys who helped this game get to where it’s at their respect.

“We just don’t think they’re going to be able to walk on the field and make the Olympic team because of the name, right? They still have to go out there and compete.”

He continued to voice his opinion this week.

Darrell Doucette says he’s better than Patrick Mahomes…

at flag football.

“At the end of the day, I feel like I’m better than Patrick Mahomes because of my IQ of the game. I know, right now, he’s the best in the league. I know he’s more accurate. I know he has all these intangibles, but when it comes to flag football, I feel like I know more than him.”

Mahomes responded to the comments on X.

Doucette is confident in his abilities, and he’s not backing down from his stance on NFL players stealing Olympic roster spots from flag football veterans.

He’ll continue to work towards earning a place on the team over the next few years.
