Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy reveals that he does not feel safe amid the rise in political violence in the country, months after the murder of Charlie Kirk.
This upcoming Sunday, CBS Sunday Morning will air a candid interview with Portnoy in which he talks about his concerns regarding the shift of antisemitism that he’s witnessed in recent years.
“It’s every day now. Like, there’s a definitive shift in what’s going on,” Portnoy told CBS’s Tony Dokoupil.
“For me, being a Jewish person, like, you got to step up,” he said. “You’re kind of someone people look up to in the Jewish community. You have to be, like, ‘All right, this is not normal ha-ha with the guys. People are coming up with real hate.’
Portnoy says he’s concerned about “yahoos” coming after him, and now has 24/7 security at his home.
“I’m far more aware of it, for the first time ever, I had security at my house, like 24/7. You know, you start getting these yahoos on social media, and there’s like yahoos.”
“I don’t even know what they’re saying, but they start talking about me, trying to get my name because they’re just in this endless cycle of needing to stay in the news, but they start talking about me, mention my name, they’ll open the floodgates on just lunatics, and it only takes one, so yeah I had security at my house 24/7.”
Earlier this week, a man was arrested for throwing coins and yelling antisemitic comments at Portnoy while he was making a pizza review video in Starkville, Mississippi.
