Dave Portnoy and Urban Meyer made a $1000 wager on national television prior to the Ohio State-Michigan football game. The loser still has not paid up.
Meyer shaded Portnoy for his unpaid debt, which is supposed to be used to benefit the Buckeyes‘ NIL program.
Meyer and Portnoy are both members of the FOX Big Noon crew. While appearing on the football pregame show, they agreed to a friendly bet.
The loser would donate $10000 to the winner’s school in NIL money.
Ohio State entered the annual rivalry game as a heavy favorite. They were also looking to end a four-game losing skid.
The Buckeyes would win the game convincingly to end any Michigan playoff hopes. In doing so, they booked a ticket to the Big Ten Championship Game.

Urban Meyer says the Michigan superfan and donor has not donated his $1000 to Ohio State football. He has refused to support the Buckeyes up to this point.
“Portnoy still owes me $1000 bucks, I know that,” the former OSU coach said on his Triple Option podcast. Portnoy has not responded publicly to the accusation.
Interestingly enough, Portnoy did voice a refusal to support any hypothetical NIL asks made by starting quarterback Bryce Underwood. He said he’d rather let the five-star passer walk than renegotiate his $12 million deal.
“I’m out of it. He’d have to have some big balls to say he wants to renegotiate now…
“It really seems like if somebody came along and said, ‘Hey Bryce, here’s $20 mill,’ I think he could bounce if he wanted to.”

It does not seem Underwood is looking for more money following his freshman year. He will not be able to count on Portnoy’s funding if he ultimately chooses to do so, though.
It will be interesting to see if Portnoy responds to Urban Meyer’s claim or shows proof of payment. To this point, it does not seem he’s willing to support his biggest rival.
