The Kansas City Chiefs traded a draft pick to acquire wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins last month, and it’s a move that’s already paying dividends.
D-Hop caught his first touchdown pass with his new squad during Monday Night Football to help his team grab an early 10-7 lead against the Tampa Bay Bucs.
He made an immediate reference to his former team with an epic celebration.
Hopkins played his first six games of the year with the Titans, recording 15 catches for 173 yards and a score. He wasted no time in taking a shot at Tennessee after being dealt to Kansas City.
“I haven’t played meaningful football in a couple of years.”
Hopkins moves on from Will Levis and sees an immediate upgrade under center with Patrick Mahomes. Meaningful football is on its way!
The Chiefs were a perfect 7-0 entering the MNF matchup, holding a 2.5-game lead in the AFC West.
DeAndre Hopkins did what he could to keep that record spotless!

The wideout hauled in his first touchdown pass with Kansas City in the second quarter of action. He then hit a Remember the Titans celebration in the endzone.
After a relatively quiet performance in his debut (2 rec, 29 yds), Hopkins exploded in the first half against Tampa Bay. He racked up six catches for 66 yards and that score as he looks to become Patrick Mahomes’ favorite target.
To set up the touchdown, he hauled in his longest catch of the season, nabbing a 35-yard reception earlier in the drive.

Hopkins is trying to prove to the NFL that he’s still got it, even after spending more than a decade in the league. He’s quieted a number of his doubters thus far!
