The Colorado football program will hold its annual Pro Day in a little over a week. Players looking to make the jump to the NFL will do their best to boost draft stock with those performances.

One player will have extra motivation to show out for scouts – and his father. Shilo Sanders might get a new set of wheels if he can run a 4.4 forty-yard dash.

The duo linked up this week with the younger Sanders doing some offseason training. They then proceeded to go back and forth about family speed.

“There’s no video of you running [a 40-yard dash],” said Shilo Sanders. “I’ve never talked to anyone that’s seen it… We’ve seen Muhammad Ali box, but I haven’t seen you run a forty. I’ve seen a man land on the moon, but I’ve never seen you run a forty. I’ve seen videos of Malcom X, but I haven’t seen you run a forty.”

Deion Sanders was the fastest player at his NFL Combine class in 1989, reportedly recording a 4.27-second time. He claims to have trained very little for that drill as he was in the midst of a professional baseball season.

Things then got a little more interesting. The always competitive Prime upped the stakes. He offered to buy his son a car if he ran a 4.4-second time.

Shilo Sanders is an interesting draft prospect. While his quarterback brother is widely expected to go in the first round, Shilo has seen a bit of a decline as he’s struggled with injuries and consistency. Across two seasons in Boulder, he racked up 137 tackles and four forced fumbles.

Deion Sanders is confident in his son’s abilities despite the criticisms. He fully expects both Shilo and Shedeur to be represented in the event. For one of those players, things just got a bit more interesting!
