Colorado picked up its seventh win of the season on Saturday by taking down Big 12 rival Texas Tech. In doing so, Deion Sanders cashed in.

Coach Prime landed a six-figure bonus after the victory, and he has a chance to add to it with each remaining win on the schedule.

Sanders signed a five-year deal with the Buffs worth $29.5 million. He’ll make roughly $5.7 million this year.

That includes his $500,000 base pay with the rest of his salary coming in the form of media obligations and promotional duties. He also has bonuses and incentives on top of that.

He’s now started reaping those benefits as the Buffs continue their success on the field.

A breakdown of his contract can be found here. Some of his incentives can be seen below.

  • $150,000 if Colorado wins six games in a season and reaches bowl eligibility
  • $100,000 for each additional win beyond the first six
  • $150,000 if Colorado wins the Big 12
  • $75,000 if Colorado plays in a Big 12 Championship game
  • $150,000 if Deion Sanders is named National Coach of the Year
  • $75,000 if Deion Sanders is named Big 12 Coach of the Year
  • $50,000 each time Colorado attains a team APR of at least 965

Colorado has already reached six wins to cash a $150,000 check. Deion Sanders gets $100,000 for every win after that. They should be favored in their three remaining games which come against Utah, Kansas, and Oklahoma State.

That means not only can Coach Prime continue racking up those six-figure payments, but he’ll have a chance to unlock potential Big 12 championship and College Football Playoff bonuses, too.

While it’s a longshot, a national title would bank $750,000. It’s still on the table!

Deion Sanders and Colorado have been one of college football’s best stories in the 2024 season. He’ll hope to keep winning games both for his team’s postseason aspirations and his bank account.
