Deion Sanders’ Latest Complaint About Travis Hunter And Shedeur Sanders Makes No Sense

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes moved to 1-0 in the opening week of the season with a hard-fought 31-26 victory over FCS powerhouse North Dakota State.

While the Buffs struggled as a whole, superstars Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter shined. Sanders completed 26-of-34 passes for 445 yards and four touchdowns, while Hunter caught seven passes for 132 yards and three scores.

Fans lauded Hunter as the top wide receiver prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft and said that both he and Sanders could go in the top 10. But according to Deion Sanders, that’s not enough praise.

“You’ve got a guy who threw for the most yards in college football. You’ve got a guy who’s proved he’s the most spectacular player in college football,” Sanders said on his weekly coaches show. “Shouldn’t those two be talked about all week about the two leading Heisman guys? Or the weekly award that was given out should have gone to those two guys? But it’s almost like, ‘No, we can’t do that. Their coach is Deion Sanders, we’re not going to do that. We’re not going to let him get away with that.’”

I don’t know what world Deion lives in that isn’t talking about how great Shedeur and Hunter are. But it’s certainly not the one that the rest of us live in.

Everyone acknowledges how great Colorado’s superstars are. It’s the rest of the program that people realize in the problem. Which is why the Buffaloes barely escaped with a home victory over an FCS opponent despite remarkable performances from both Shedeur and Hunter.

Both Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are top-10 favorites to win the Heisman Trophy on most betting sites. That’s despite Colorado’s likelihood to finish at or below .500.

Nobody is sleeping on those two. But it’s Deion, so he’s got to create some sort of fake adversity to try and motivate his team. Hopefully, it works better than it for the majority of last season.
