We might be getting closer to seeing Deion Sanders in the NFL. Last week, the Dallas Cowboys fired their longtime coach, Mike McCarthy.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is interested in hiring Sanders, and the Buffs coach has been named a “top candidate” for the Cowboys job.

“Sources: #Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has spoken with Colorado HC Deion Sanders about the team’s head coaching vacancy, and discussions are expected to continue regarding the possibility of him becoming the next head coach in Dallas.
“Coach Prime is considered a top candidate, though the Cowboys plan to interview other candidates as part of the process, per team sources.”
Former ESPN reporter Ed Werder is now reporting that Sanders would likely accept the Cowboys job if offered.

“Regarding Deion Sanders: I’m being told that he would almost certainly accept if Jerry Jones offers to make him the next #Cowboys head coach, that those around him are encouraging him to pursue it and that Jones is enamored with the idea.”
With both of his sons entering the NFL dradt, it’s easy to see Sanders leaving Colorado for the NFL. We’ll have to wait and see if the Jones pulls the trigger to make Sanders the next Cowboys head coach.
