Could Deion Sanders become the next coach at Florida State?
Last week. FSU paid Willie Taggart to go away after a disappointing loss to rival Miami Hurricanes during a horrendous season for the school.
Florida State has fired Willie Taggart. "We had no choice," FSU President John Thrasher said.
Odell Haggins will take over.

By my calculations, the Taggart buyout is very close to $18.25 million (prorating three remaining months, minus three days, of this contract year). If that's not the biggest buyout ever paid in college coaching, it's real close

ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit went on air and said he believes the school needs a big flashy hire to reinvigorate the program.

I still think it’s a heavy weight job,” Herbstreit. “Maybe it’s because I grew up in the ’80s and ’90s and loved Bobby Bowden and loved that program and want them to be great. I mean I miss Florida State. I think college football misses Florida State being a 10 win team year in and year out. So I think it’s a great job, I think it’s a little tricky as far as it’s not — you know you coach at some of these places and no matter what the product is on the field the stadium’s sold out, everybody’s there, there’s a buzz in the air that kind of thing. I don’t know if that’s necessarily like that right now, but I think if you can bring in a dynamic head coach to get people excited, get the players excited, I think there’s a chance that it can get back to what it needs to be. I mean I’m like you and everybody else, you’re literally just throwing names out there.”
It seems like FSU agrees with Herbstreit because it appears they might consider hiring Pro Football Hall Of Hame cornerback Deion Sanders.
NFL Network analyst and Hall of Famer Deion Sanders has emerged as a candidate for the Florida St. head coaching job, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. A fascinating situation that could unfold.

Considering the fact that Sanders doesn’t have coaching experience beyond the high school level, football fans had mixed reactions to “Primetime” becomeing the next coach at FSU.

I’m very confident that Deion Sanders would recruit better than any coach in the state if Florida State went in that direction. I don’t really know how you could think otherwise. He’s a legend that’s still very much relevant. He also has strong connections to Texas.

Say what you want but @DeionSanders would have Florida State crackin’

I'm not completely dismissive of the Deion Sanders thing being able to work, but even aside from the lack of coaching, what evidence of ability to build culture has Sanders exhibited? FSU needs a foundation more than it needs glitz.
