Deion Sanders did not have an interest in dealing with reporters and/or media outlets he doesn’t like during a heated press conference on his birthday. Coach Prime turned 57 years old on Friday!

He celebrated the occasion by speaking exactly what was on his mind.

The second-year college football coach took questions at Colorado’s annual Fall Sports Media Day after a busy week of fall camp that was overshadowed by a bombshell report about the program. Perhaps Sanders’ frustration with the scathing review of his locker room culture played a role in his mood.

Either way, Coach Prime was not having it. He didn’t have the time or energy to deal with people who aren’t going to give him the respect he believes he deserves— even though he gave them the time and the energy by telling them off. Two exchanges stood out in particular.

The first incident took place between Sanders and a representative of CBS Sports in Denver.

David Cobb of CBS Sports recently ranked Coach Prime as the second-worst coach in the Big 12 Conference, only ahead of Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham. That apparently did not go over well.

Sanders took the rankings personally and refused to entertain CBS all together. He didn’t care that the reporter in Boulder was not Cobb and had nothing to do with the rankings. He wouldn’t take his question.

Moments later, Sean Keeler tried to chime in. Apparently, according to people familiar with the pulse in/around Colorado football, the Denver Post reporter is considered to be a bit of a pessimist. Most of his coverage of the team is negative. Especially in the Coach Prime era.

Sanders wanted to know why Keeler is always hating and put him on the spot.

It was not a friendly conversation. It was not in good fun.

Deion Sanders eviscerated Keeler in front of a room of his peers.

Say what you will about Coach Prime, but it is hard to knock his consistency. The newly minted 57-year-old is always going to say what he is thinking, for better or for worse.
