Deion Sanders threw some shade at the media on Thursday, insinuating that there are lies being spread surrounding his Colorado program.

The reply came in response to a social media post involving one of his Buffalo players, who was seen praising his head coach this week.

Walk-on running back Charlie Offerdahl was put on scholarship this offseason due to production and determination on the field.

He celebrated the moment in the locker room with Colorado teammates and offered thanks to Deion Sanders after the fact.

“Thank you, Coach, for believing in me,” he wrote in a post on Instagram.

Coach Prime caught wind of that post while scrolling through X (formerly Twitter) when a Colorado fan account asked, “I wonder if outlets like Athlon Sports ever consider reaching out to these type of players for their articles?”

He responded by reposting the photo with a message.

A lie is much Faster than the TRUTH.

That message was clear.

Sanders has been criticized constantly since stepping foot on the Colorado campus, whether right or wrong. His 4-8 output from a season ago was certainly worthy of criticism given the team’s initial 3-0 start, but much of what is said has more to do with Sanders as a person than as a coach.

Many who don’t like his approach or personality latch onto negativity.

This offseason, Sanders has dealt with headlines surrounding his locker room and roster management. Media outlets have been quick to speak to players who’ve left the program as Coach Prime continues to attack the transfer portal.

In the most recent case, a writer at Athlon Sports published a piece comparing the Colorado locker room to Grand Theft Auto. He cited a culture of hazing, violence, and gun use.

Deion Sanders threatened possible legal action in his denial of the accusations, calling the information completely false.

He appeared to double down on that opinion Thursday.

As for Charlie Offerdahl, he’ll be on scholarship for the 2024 season, and he thanks his head coach for making it possible. The Buffaloes are set to get things started against North Dakota State on August 29.
