DeMarcus Cousins Gave An Early Christmas Surprise To A Family And Can Someone Hand Me A Tissue?

‘Tis the season to be jolly, bros, because a story like this is a reminder that there’s a lot of good going around—and some of it comes from the most unlikely pro athletes.

Sacramento Kings’ center DeMarcus Cousins—who has come across as immature and labeled as more than just a little pouty during his days in NorCal—proved that he has a pretty big heart, surprising a family with a brand new car yesterday, a day after taking 100 underprivileged kids on a holiday shopping spree.

Santa Boogie teamed up with Chevy and handed off a new 2016 Malibu to the family as they snapped pics at the Kings’ Sleep Train Arena.

Cousins was able to go unnoticed as he drove up to the family and honking to get their attention, instantly bringing more than just a few tears down the faces of the recipients—which, after reading their story, is understandable.

Per Sean Cunningham of ABC10 Sports:

Cousins reached out to the Kings organization to select a family in need to donate a vehicle to. With a nomination from Graciela Garcia of the Washington Unified School District, they selected Maurice and Selena because of their remarkable story.

Williams and Pina are raising their 3-year-old daughter Marina, in addition to Selena’s two younger twin sisters J’nay and J’nette Sims, who were twice abandoned – once by their biological mother, and then again by family friends who didn’t want them anymore.

Malnourished and neglected, the twins, almost six-years-old at the time, were left at the front door of Maurice and Selena, who then contacted Child Protective Services for help.

They worked to try to get full custody of the J’nay and J’nette and raise them as their own, beginning an adoption process. In Oct. 2015, Maurice and Selena were granted full guardianship of the twins.

Williams and Pina, who are engaged and set to wed in 2016, just got the gift of a lifetime, so big ups to DeMarcus Cousins for wanting to bring some joy to them during the holidays.
